 Our History

April 1950 Yamasa Dairy Industry established by Hana Yamada starts the production of Popsicle.
January 1957 The business is inherited by Shigeru Yamada, son of Hana, due to Hana’s illness.
May 1962 Sales of ‘Shiro Ice’ (the first shaved ice product) and ‘Momotaro’ start targeting the large market in the capital region on Tokyo Olympic.
April 1963 Sales of other products in the Tokyo area start.
April 1970 Daiichi Foods Company is established, and Shigeru Yamada assumes the post of CEO.
October 1971 The company purchases 1,790.64m2 land in the Bunsui Industrial Park at 116-6 Jizodo, Bunsuimachi as a plant site.
May 1972 Headquarter factory is built on the plant site.
March 1975 Line production of hand-made style soft ice cream starts ahead of industry peers.
January 1976 Daiichi Foods Company is reorganized as Daiichi Foods Co., Ltd.
February 1977 The company purchases 1,313.9m2 land as a site of a frozen distribution center at 28-12 Jizodo, Bunsuimachi, next to the headquarter factory.
April 1978 Sales department is separated as Daiichi Foods Sales Co., Ltd., and Shigeru Yamada takes up a post of CEO.
February 1982 800t (1,000 m2) freezer is installed in the frozen distribution center.
June 1993 The company purchases 5,235m2 land as a factory site at 1-1-71 Akebonocho, Bunsuimachi, Nishikanbaragun.
September 1996 State-of-art freezer (800t) is installed in the Akebonocho factory.
October 1999 Manufacturing the original product for a convenience store chain Sunkus expands the market to nationwide.
February 2000 Sales of prime quality ice cream ‘Zeitaku Monaka Series’ start.
July 2002 Productions of Ninety-nine Plus Inc. own brand products start.
October 2003 New product, ‘Daifuku Ice Cream’, the ice cream wrapped in soft mochi (sticky rice cake) is developed.
March 2004 New factory with state-of-art facilities are launched at Akebonocho aiming to deliver higher quality products.
January 2009 Production of STORE100 (100-yen shop by LAWSON) own brand products start.
June 2010 Production department and asset management department are separated to enhance the ice cream production system, and Daiichi Foods Co., Ltd. is reorganized to Daiichi Co., Ltd. as an asset management company. The production department is restructured to Daiichi Foods Co., Ltd., and Hirotomo Konishi assumes a post of CEO.
February 2011 ISO9001:2008 certification is achieved.
